Sustainability
We have been committed to sustainable nature conservation since April 2019. Koller + Schwemmer has adopted a beehive and thus contributes to direct environmental protection. Because since 1950, the global bee population has decreased by more than half to around 800,000 bee colonies today. Climate change, the use of pesticides in agriculture, and viruses in honeybees are contributing to global bee mortality. Bees are extremely important for the ecosystem. In Germany, more than 80% of native flowering plants depend on them for pollination. In addition, about 65% of global food production depends on bees and insects. Bees have a major impact on our diet, as without their pollination work, humans would lose about a third of crops in their diet. Thus, Koller + Schwemmer is actively committed to the sustainable protection of biodiversity and contributes to maintaining the ecological system and biodiversity.
Our beehives are professionally cared for all year round by beefuture. For the honey harvest, our honey is filled into jars and are from now on ready to distort. Therefore, our honey is 100% a natural product.
Small side info: For a jar of honey, bees have to cover a distance of approx. 150,000 kilometers. A single bee manages to fly about 8,000 kilometers in its lifetime. In addition, about five million flowers are needed for one jar of honey.
